Strumpshaw Neighbourhood Plan (Revised 2025–2045)

Notice of Decision – Referendum to Be Held on 7 May 2026

The revised Strumpshaw Neighbourhood Plan has been prepared by a volunteer steering group on behalf of Strumpshaw Parish Council. It updates the original 2014 Plan and sets out planning policies to guide how the parish grows and develops up to 2045. The Plan is based on extensive consultation with residents, local organisations and statutory bodies.
Following independent examination, Broadland District Council and the Broads Authority have issued a Decision Statement confirming that the revised Plan should proceed to a local referendum, subject to the examiner’s recommended modifications.

 Referendum

Election Notices for this refeerendum

• Date: 7 May 2026
• Purpose: To allow local electors to decide whether the revised Neighbourhood Plan should be brought into force.
• Polling cards: These will be issued by Broadland District Council closer to the referendum date.

If more than half of those voting support the Plan, it will be formally adopted (“made”) by Broadland District Council and the Broads Authority. Once adopted, it will become part of the statutory Development Plan for the area and will be used when determining planning applications in Strumpshaw.

Status of the Plan Before the Referendum

Government guidance allows the revised Neighbourhood Plan to be given significant weight in planning decisions from the point at which the Decision Statement is issued, where its policies are relevant to the application being considered.
